We make every effort to get to know you well so that we can tailor our program to you, whether, for example, you may need more attention, more materials, or a longer period of time. Our course builds a community in which all are recognized and accepted for who they are and shown compassionate care. Our profession is one in which we care for ourselves and nurture growth so that we can serve others. Our relationships are heart-based and authentic, and we both radiate and attract connection in all that we do. Throughout our course, you will explore the skills required for developing a heart-centered approach to reflexology.

Reflexology is a natural technique designed to assist the body's natural ability to balance and maintain itself through the skilled use of touch. It is both an art and a science based on the interaction between the reflexologist and the client, which both work together to enervate the client's innate, self-healing energy. Reflexology may be used as a preventative approach or as an additional support during various stages of illness or 'dis'-ease.

Foot reflexology is an ancient practice that is based on the principle that specific points on the feet are connected through energy pathways to different parts of the body. This holistic therapy focuses on applying gentle pressure, through the nervous system, to specific areas of the feet, known as reflex points, which correspond to different organs and systems in the body. By applying precise pressure to these reflex points, reflexology aims to influence the corresponding organs and systems, thereby augmenting balance, enhancing well-being, increasing your over-all good health, well-being, and vitality, and supporting the body's natural self-healing processes.

During a session, your client will experience a soothing and nurturing touch that not only targets physical ailments but also addresses emotional and mental well-being. The therapy is non-invasive, making it suitable for individuals of all ages, including children and the elderly. Learn to unlock the potential of foot reflexology and embark on a journey to holistic well-being. Whether you're seeking relief from stress, pain, or simply looking to enhance your overall health, foot reflexology offers a gentle, nurturing yet powerful solution.

By assisting the body directly in balancing itself and immediately reducing the stress that causes more than 85% of all illnesses; all of the body systems are affected in a positive way. can be used on any of several levels -- physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. By learning about reflexology, you can learn to take care of yourself, your friends and family, and paying clients in a practice of your own, as part of a Complementary/Alternative Medicine (CAM) group, or for a spa.

Our program includes professional, fully observed Practice Clinics. Each clinic comes at the end of the foundations work, and incorporates everything that you have learned in order to work with a client. On the day of the Clinic, you will receive a new 'client', you will perform a full assessment, you will prepare a routine for that client, and you will complete the consultation (which includes sharing with your client your findings, lifestyle suggestions, etc.). After the Client leaves, the class will get together with the instructor and review the sessions. By the end of the clinic day, you should be all ready to see clients on your own. Fifty case study meetings will build up your confidence and experience in working with clients when you are officially certified and can charge them.

Successful completion of this course will give you an advanced working knowledge of the safe use of reflexology as a professional practice or as an add-on in a related discipline such as nursing, massage therapy, and palliative care. After successful completion of our program, you will become eligible to apply for membership in the Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC) (or a similar organization in your province, state, or country) as a Professional Member and to take the RCRT Exam that RAC requires for entry into the professional practice of reflexology and to be eligible for the for the professional designation of RCRT.

  • About The Instructor: What qualifications does Dr. Sheryl Beller-Kenner have to teach this course?
“I seek to connect as many hearts as there are stars in the sky.” Dr. Sheryl Beller-Kenner About The Instructor: What qualifications does Dr. Sheryl Beller-Kenner have to teach this course? As a holistic health care practitioner, I am devoted to guiding organizations and people on journeys of wellness, self-fulfillment, and connection. I'm a heart-centered Earth Mama. I love our planet and the people on it. I am extremely curious about everything. I am, literally, a perennial student and I read, do research, and write professional articles for fun. Drawing between the lines is difficult for me because I delight in expanding boundaries. Active in the waning years of the hippie movement, I strongly advocated for women's rights, freedom of religion, and rock 'n' roll. I have been a Techno-Queen since a computer was made small enough to put onto my desk, and I have used it to bring technology into language teaching & learning to instructors and schools all across the world. Inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson, who said, “A weed is a plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered”, I have spent much time over the past 25 years making healing preparations from the gifts of the plants. And I have discovered, “If you listen, they will teach you.” Learning is about mindful listening. I have received my naturopathic training from various places in order to develop a well-rounded approach to complementary health care. I received my certification as a Chartered Herbalist (designation of CH) from Dominion Herbal College in British Columbia, Canada, as an aromatherapist who does aromatherapy massage (designation of CAHP) from Ontario, Canada, as a foot reflexologist (designation of RCRT) and a Level II Reiki practitioner, from here in Montreal, Canada. My work in Spiritual PhytoEssencing with Dr. Bruce Berkowsky and earned designation as a registered Spiritual PhytoEssencing practitioner(R.SPE.P.) and Group Training Leader, has taught me how to take my work with essential oils and with clients to a much higher, much more spiritual level. Being a wellness practitioner is about being mindful of your own wellness daily. I have earned a certificate from the Unified Mindfulness organization that gives me a tool that I use daily for self-regulation and calm. My training as a Certified HeartMath Provider has given me the tools to help myself, my clients, and my students relieve the stress that causes emotional, physical, mental and spiritual imbalances. With these tools, I can be a role model for using various ways to demonstrate how stress reduction can be accomplished in so very many ways. Enjoying staying connected to other professionals in healthcare, I am currently a member in good standing of the following professional organizations: Association Canadienne des Thérapeutes en Médecines Douces/Canadian Association of Therapists in Complementary Medicine (formerly Association Canadienne des Massothérapeutes et Autres Thérapeutes en Médecines Alternatives/Canadian Association of Massage Therapists and Other Therapists in Alternative Medicine) (ACTMD/CATCM); National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA); Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists (CFA); Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC) - National and Montreal Chapter; and International Association of Aromatherapists (AIA). In addition, I am a long-term member of the educational committee for the AIA and, in the past, for the CFA. Continued focus on various aspects of professional growth is important to me. Trained in the Xchange Approach during the pandemic, I took a deep dive into bringing wellness into organizations and businesses during stressful transformations. For businesses, stress reduces productivity, increases absenteeism & employee turnover, and causes the loss of its previously-established values. These challenges have an immediate effect on the bottom line of any organization. My Xchange training brought me up-to-date on the use of new on-line technologies, the latest research on becoming a valued 'guide on the side', and how highly interactive activity can bring teams together to reduce confusion while opening up authentic lines of communication. I can work with individual CEOs, Board of Directors, Human Resources departments, and very large groups (workshops, conferences, weekend retreats) as a consultant or facilitator. This model is 100% business and 100% fun! Teaching is also about mindful noticing (also called mindful listening). People want to be seen, heard, and understood. Each person I interact with gets my full attention so I can authentically connect with the person in front of me. For over 35 years, I have been teaching people and teachers of all ages all over North America. I currently offer professional certification programs in aromatherapy, herbology and reflexology right here in Montreal. Introductory courses I also love to teach include Unified Mindfulness Meditation and HeartMath ®. As they are requested throughout the year, I introduce workshops on various topics such as perfume blending, stress reduction, incorporating essential oils into your daily life…and the list goes on. Working with clients is also about heart-based connecting. In addition to being the full-time director of BelArôme Holistic Health Centre and the Montreal HeartMath Stress Reduction Clinic, I run a thriving private practice. I support all of my clients in getting in touch with their hearts and the ‘small spark within’ and showing them how this can lead them to a well-balanced, calm, healthy lifestyle. "If we open our minds and our hearts, we will discover that we have everything we need right here in front of us." Join me!
  • Final Exams: Are there any final exams I need to take at the end of the course?
Final Exams: Are there any final exams I need to take at the end of the course? There are 3 important exams that you will need to take; two are BelArôme course exams, and one is the CFA National Exam that you will need to take in order to receive your CAHP designation. In addition, you will need to write 1 research report. The BelArôme Foundations Exam is a written/online exam designed to show how you have mastered the course work, readings, and independent studying. It is taken before you can go on to do your case studies. It is an integral part of the course, and the fee is included in the tuition fee. The exam includes true/false, fill in the blank, multiple choice, short answer, and mix/match questions, as well as pre-set-up case studies for you to evaluate or complete. During the last class of the session, you will be requested to sign up for and complete the Written Final Foundations Exam. This exam will cover all of the Foundations work that we have done in class or for self-study. This exam will be scored out of 100%. Minimum passing grade is 80%. Upon unsuccessful completion, one make-up exam may be taken, for an additional fee. Upon successful completion, you may begin your case studies, confident that you now have the knowledge and skills to work with ‘clients’. 2. The BelArôme Practical Exam is a hands-on exam designed to show how you have developed your skills as a heart-centered practitioner. This exam must be completed within 1 month of completion of case studies (so you have lots of preparation for it!) and other required assignments. It is an integral and fun part of the course, and the fee is included in the tuition fee. Basically, you will conduct an AROMATHERAPY session on your instructor (who will role play a client), going through every part of the protocol for a first visit. This will include setting up, welcoming the client, performing all assessments, making an Individualized Blend, giving client directions & recommendations, and recording the session. This exam will be scored out of 100%; the minimum passing grade is 80%. Upon unsuccessful completion, one make-up exam may be taken, for an additional fee. Upon successful completion of this and all other course requirements, you will be awarded your certificate. 3. The CFA National Exam is also an on-line exam. It is administered by the CFA, and, upon successful completion of this exam, you will be awarded the CAHP designation. The CFA will charge you for this exam; the cost is NOT included in your tuition. The CFA exam includes a combination of true/false, fill in the blank, multiple choice, short answer, and mix/match questions, as well as pre-set-up case studies for you to evaluate or complete. 4 In addition, you will need to complete a 2000-word research paper. Each student has a different area of interest or goal for applying their aromatherapy studies. For certification as a CAHP, you will be required to write a 2000-word paper on an aromatherapy- based topic of your choice, as agreed upon by your instructor. In this activity, you will get a chance to take a deeper dive into a topic of interest. SUBMISSION FORMATS For every activity you do, whether in-class or on-line, there is an activity sheet from your online Activity Book to guide you through to completion. All completed assignments will be submitted through your E-Activity Portfolio; the name and number of each activity appears on a list, so it will be easy to upload your work in the appropriate location. Even for activities that are done live (cases, practical exam) we will provide you with templates, client intake forms and other documents to make the process easy and successful for you. At BelArôme, we believe experiencing an aromatherapy session firsthand is crucial for any aspiring aromatherapy practitioner. By receiving a session, you will gain invaluable insights into the therapeutic process from a client's perspective. This experience allows you to understand the nuances of session flow, the effects of different essential oils, and the importance of creating a relaxing and healing environment. Moreover, firsthand experience cultivates empathy and deepens your ability to connect with future clients, ultimately leading to more effective and compassionate practice. At BelArôme, we emphasize the holistic development of our students to ensure they are well-prepared to offer the highest quality of care and maintain the integrity of the therapeutic experience. It is a great benefit to be able to give and receive a professional aromatherapy session. Give yourself that gift. Your personal self-care is of utmost importance. • Deepening Your Professionalism: Why join a professional organization?
Deepening Your Professionalism: Why join a professional organization? IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS: All students are urged to join a professional Aromatherapy organization and obtain practitioner insurance - even as a student. Each professional aromatherapy organization in North America has different requirements for professional membership that may or may not include certain number of study hours, certain number of case studies, and/or an entrance exam. As of 2024, the BelArôme course curriculum at least meets all of the advanced requirements of each North American professional Aromatherapy organization. If the organization that you choose to join after you receive your certificate requires you to take its own exam, you will have to arrange it and pay that organization; it is not included in the exams for this course, but you can request that we act as a proctor if needed. It is highly recommended that you become a student member of the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists (CFA); this will give you the opportunity to meet other aromatherapists, participate in professional activities, and buy insurance coverage for when you work on your case studies. The CFA will confer the CAHP® designation if you take and pass its CAHP® exam. There are numerous other professional organizations that you will be eligible to join too; each one offers many different benefits. Further information will be given in class.

  • Licensing: Is aromatherapy a licensed profession?
Licensing: Is aromatherapy a licensed profession? No, there are no specific government-enforced licensing requirements for aromatherapists outside of South Africa. Because our students come from many different countries, it is very important for you to check in your local area to see what additional licenses you may need to practice there. You especially need to become familiar with the laws about behaviors and practices that constitute “practicing medicine without a license”. Usually, the BelArôme certificate that you will receive is enough for you to start practicing aromatherapy on your own in your local area. If you are seeking to be employed by another organization, most companies require proof of a certificate of completion, such as the one that you will receive from our school. By taking a course that is accepted by recognized professional organizations in your area (as ours is), you can be sure that you are taking a course that meets the highest standards and remains continuously up-to-date with the latest industry practices. This commitment by us guarantees that you can offer safe, effective, and professional aromatherapy sessions that will be covered by practitioner insurance. Visit BelArôme to experience the nurturing and healing benefits of aromatherapy delivered by experts passionate about your well-being!

Learning is about mindful listening.

  • Distant Learning: Can I take the course if I am not in Canada?
Distant Learning: Can I take the course if I am not in Canada? Because the main part of our course is hands-on, it is not possible to take that part of our program online. If you are within traveling distance of Montreal, we'd love to have you join us.u. It may also be possible to arrange a small-group intensive program near you.
  • Deepening Your Professionalism: Why join a professional organization?
Deepening Your Professionalism: Why join a professional organization? IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS: All students are urged to join a professional reflexology organization and obtain practitioner insurance - even as a student. Each professional reflexology organization in North America has different requirements for professional membership that may or may not include certain number of study hours, certain number of case studies, and/or an entrance exam. As of 2024, the BelArôme course curriculum at least meets all of the advanced requirements of each North American professional reflexology organization. If the organization that you choose to join after you receive your certificate requires you to take its own exam, you will have to arrange it and pay that organization; it is not included in the exams for this course, but you can request that we act as a proctor if needed. It is highly recommended that you become a student member of the Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC); this will give you the opportunity to meet other reflexologists, participate in professional activities, and buy insurance coverage for when you work on your case studies. RAC will confer the RCRT designation if you take and pass its national exam. There are numerous other professional organizations that you will be eligible to join too; each one offers many different benefits. Further information will be given in class.
  • Course Duration: How long will it take to complete the course?
Course Duration: How long will it take to complete the course? BelArome's reflexology course is both a comprehensive and rewarding experience. This course is equivalent to 300 hours of study including the completion of 60 case studies. Most students complete the program within 9-12 months. You can take up to 1 year to complete it. You may request 1 extension for up to 3 more months. Our course is designed to equip you with a deep understanding of reflexology, emphasizing a holistic approach to wellness. Our class meetings are spread out so you have time to incorporate your learning with your new routine and client skills. At the start of the program, you will be given an assignment calendar with weekly assignments to guide your journey and prepare you for each class. Throughout the program, you will learn the anatomical and physiological principles of reflexology, along with practical techniques to effectively promote relaxation and resilience. Additionally, our courses cover heart-based client consultation methods, ensuring you can confidently assess and meet individual client needs. At any opportunity that you find yourself with additional time, you can accelerate your learning by fast-tracking your readings. In this way, you can study at a pace that is best for you. (This also gives you opportunities to take guilt-free breaks when you need them!) With careful pre-planning, you can complete your case studies in about 10-12 weeks. By the end of the year, you will be fully prepared to implement reflexology practices professionally, backed by BelArome's commitment to holistic health and well-being.

Course Access Duration: For how long do I have access to the course material in my E-Reflex Online Classroom? Arrangements can be made for an extension if needed.
  • Licensing: Is aromatherapy a licensed profession?
Licensing: Is aromatherapy a licensed profession? No, at this time, there are no specific government-enforced licensing requirements for reflexologists. Because our students come from many different countries, it is very important for you to check in your local area to see what additional licenses you may need to practice there. You especially need to become familiar with the laws about behaviors and practices that constitute “practicing medicine without a license”. Usually, the BelArôme certificate that you will receive is enough for you to start practicing reflexology on your own in your local area. This commitment by us guarantees that you can offer safe, effective, and professional reflexology sessions that will be covered by practitioner insurance. Visit BelArôme to experience the nurturing and healing benefits of reflexology delivered by experts passionate about your well-being!

  • Final Exams: Are there any final exams I need to take at the end of the course?
Final Exams: Are there any final exams I need to take at the end of the course? There are 3 important exams that you will need to take; two are BelArôme course exams, and one is the RAC National Exam that you will need to take in order to receive your RAC designation. 1. Basically, you will conduct a FOOT REFLEXOLOGY session on your instructor (who will role play a client), going through every part of the protocol for a first visit. This will include setting up, welcoming the client, performing all assessments, doing an individualized routine based on client needs, giving client assessment & recommendations, and recording the session. This exam will be scored out of 100%; the minimum passing grade is 80%. Upon unsuccessful completion, one make-up exam may be taken, for an additional fee. Upon successful completion of this and all other course requirements, you will be awarded your certificate. 3. The RAC National Exam is a hands-on exam. It is administered by RAC, and, upon successful completion of this exam, you will be awarded the RCRT designation. RAC will charge you for this exam; the cost is NOT included in your tuition. The RAC exam requires that you demonstrate that you know how to give a complete client session. No need to worry about it; you will have done it at least 60 times before! If you are not fond of using computers for submission of your assignments, we will help you all along the way.

RAC requires that you take this exam within 2 months of receiving your certification; we will help you through this process. Upon successful completion of their exam, you become eligible for membership in the Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC) as a Professional Member.
  • Insurance: Why should I get insurance for my aromatherapy practice?

Learning Activities: What types are there, and how do I submit them? The classes of this course alternate between classes of foundations and of reflexology routine techniques. The foundations classes may be live or on-line (as scheduled), but the techniques classes must be attended in-person, in-class. In addition to the scheduled classes, there will be lessons and activities that you will be given online for each class session. The activities can consist of readings, writing, exercises, on-line practice quizzes, etc. So, the overall structure of this course is a combination of In-Class & On-Line/Self-Study Work. Learning Experiences If you can’t attend a particular foundations class in person, we will arrange for you to attend on-line. We are mindful that each student has different learning needs, and we work together with you to meet them. We are experts at hybrid learning. Our in-class sessions will be facilitated by a very live, very experienced instructor. In class, we share, ask questions, discuss and grow. We combine this with on-line self-study. Your instructor guides you from the beginning to the finish of our journey together. Get all of the benefits of working hands-on with a live instructor and of doing self-study at your own pace. Combine the best of the face-to-face and on-line high-tech worlds! Some of the self-study activities will be graded & included as part of your final grade; all will be given feedback. All assignments will be available in your E-Reflex Classroom on-line. Quizzes, Tests & Case Studies --On-line Practice Quizzes The on-line Unit Quizzes are designed for you to be able to review your learnings as you go along and to help you prepare for your exams. You can see your results immediately and take the quiz as many times as you’d like; they’re great learning tools. There are no course grades associated with the quizzes; they are there for extra practice. In addition, your instructor will give you practical tips for studying and preparing throughout the semester. --Final Foundations Exam During the last class of the session, you will be requested to sign up for and complete the Written Final Foundations Exam; it will be on-line. --Case Studies Upon successful completion of your written Final Foundations Exam, you will be required to complete 60 case studies, as required by RAC. Your instructor will help prepare you to do the case studies. Case Studies are the activity that prepares you to apply how all of the skills that you have learned will prepare you to work with clients of your own. Each case study will be in the format you will use with your own clients. By the time that you have completed them, you will be confident about working with others in a professional manner. From time to time, your instructor may make available opportunities for you to get additional, supervised practice in a clinic setting. Case Studies must be completed within 6 months of the Written Final Foundations Exam. They must be marked and completed before the Final Practical Exam can be taken. It will take at least 3 weeks for case studies to be reviewed and graded, so plan accordingly. All case studies will be reviewed by your instructor, and will be graded on a pass/fail basis. Upon unsuccessful completion of any case, you will revise those case studies that need to be improved. Upon successful completion of all cases, you may schedule your Final Practical Exam. --Final Practical Exam The Final Practical Exam is a case study visit in which your instructor is your ‘client’. It must be completed within 1 month of completion of case studies. Successful completion of the Final Practical Exam is considered to be a score of 80%.
