  Our Medicinal Gardens

A weed is a plant whose virtues
have not yet been discovered.

Inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson, who said that a weed was a plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered, I planted a garden full of them in order to learn their healing powers. At first, I put into my garden all of those plants that others pulled out of theirs.  To that, I added plants that I found growing in cracks on the sidewalk and in uninhabited places.  After each outing that I took, I always had a few new friends to find a place for. My  garden now contains a variety of medicinal herbs that grow in Montreal, where I live. Since the infamous Ice Storm, I have spent much time in my garden making healing preparations from the gifts of my plants.

The Garden is filled with plants that have all different colors, textures, tastes, fragrances, and purposes. In order to be able to live in The Garden, each plant must be able to adapt to the city and develop a care-free attitude. Every year The Garden is gifted with different plants, brought by the birds, the squirrels, and the wind. Every year we lose some plants, taken by the birds, the squirrels, and the sun. It is always delightful to see what each new year will bring.

CAN YOU IDENTIFY ANY OF THESE PLANTS
THAT CAN BE FOUND IN OUR GARDENS?
