-- Dr. Sheryl Beller Kenner, Certified Reflexologist RCRT

Join us – in small, live classes -- to explore the “whispers of the feet” world of reflexology as a health care practice! Get personalized attention and feedback all the way through your program. This advanced-level class is equivalent to 300 hours, and certification qualifies you to become recognized as a RCRT by the Reflexology Association of Canada - RAC. Get answers to the following questions – and more: What is reflexology? How does it work? What are its benefits? How can it help me and my family? What do I need to learn to become a successful practitioner? How can I integrate reflexology with the other modalities that I currently practice? You will learn the theory and its practical, hands-on applications, holistic anatomy & physiology & pathology, and the way that deep, heart-based assessments are made. Class meetings will be hands-on and sharing of activities, with specially extended sessions to practice the basic reflexology routine. Through supervised clinical sessions and guided case studies, you will get sufficient practice to become comfortable to work on new clients of your own.

Step into your BelArôme E-Learning Classroom. Our on-line area guides you through the course outline & assignments so you never lose your way. It permits you to submit your assignments on-line, offers mini-quizzes that review every topic & interactive, multimedia work. On-line learning exercises will help you study, alone or with others, and on-line mini-quizzes for each unit will help you review and prepare you for the final exams. Each activity that you do will become a part of your online ReflexPortfolio so that you can see your progress and get feedback from your instructor. It keeps you in constant contact with your instructor & other students. Also, if you can't make it to a class, you can arrange to participate on-line so that you don’t miss a session!

The main purpose of our Advanced Level Foot Reflexology Practitioner Program - FR310 is to support you in becoming a heart-based, professional reflexologist who can mindfully design and follow an individualized routine in which where every touch opens in your client a door to wellness and balance. We guide you from starting as an inexperienced or a beginner reflexology lover to becoming a confident practitioner who will be able to take care of yourself, your friends, your family, and clients in your office, in a hospital or hospice, or in a medical office or spa, wherever you are and in whatever you do.

  • Build Resilience In A Stress-Filled World: You will learn how stress affects every system of your body and causes or worsens any health condition. Your reflexology journey will include preparing mindful assessments of your clients so that you can identify the deeper causes of that stress and design individualized routines that will reduce the manifestations of that stress in your client. It’s all about the stress! And we want you to reduce yours and your clients’ by providing clear guidance and clear information as you establish your path, by basing the information we give you on highly qualified expert experience & gold-star research, and by creating a learning environment that is filled with heart, compassion, and joy.

  • Cultivate A Holistic Focus: You will develop a deep understanding of how to make reflexology a holistic part of one’s life so that others will be able to incorporate your recommendations into their daily life by first doing it for yourself. We want you to enjoy the fulfillment that reflexology can bring you personally and professionally, as it does for us!

  • Become a Heart-Based Reflexologist: As each student is different, each student has different needs and ways of learning. We make every effort to get to know you well so that we can tailor our program to you, whether, for example, you may need more attention, more materials, or a longer period of time. Our course builds a community in which all are recognized and accepted for who they are and shown compassionate care. Our profession is one in which we care for ourselves and nurture growth so that we can serve others. Our relationships are heart-based and authentic, and we both radiate and attract connection in all that we do. Throughout our course, you will explore the skills required for developing a heart-centered approach to reflexology.

Reflexology is a natural technique designed to assist the body's natural ability to balance and maintain itself through the skilled use of touch. It is both an art and a science based on the interaction between the reflexologist and the client, which both work together to enervate the client's innate, self-healing energy. Reflexology may be used as a preventative approach or as an additional support during various stages of illness or 'dis'-ease.

Foot reflexology is an ancient practice that is based on the principle that specific points on the feet are connected through energy pathways to different parts of the body. This holistic therapy focuses on applying gentle pressure, through the nervous system, to specific areas of the feet, known as reflex points, which correspond to different organs and systems in the body. By applying precise pressure to these reflex points, reflexology aims to influence the corresponding organs and systems, thereby augmenting balance, enhancing well-being, increasing your over-all good health, well-being, and vitality, and supporting the body's natural self-healing processes.

During a session, your client will experience a soothing and nurturing touch that not only targets physical ailments but also addresses emotional and mental well-being. The therapy is non-invasive, making it suitable for individuals of all ages, including children and the elderly. Learn to unlock the potential of foot reflexology and embark on a journey to holistic well-being. Whether you're seeking relief from stress, pain, or simply looking to enhance your overall health, foot reflexology offers a gentle, nurturing yet powerful solution.

By assisting the body directly in balancing itself and immediately reducing the stress that causes more than 85% of all illnesses; all of the body systems are affected in a positive way. can be used on any of several levels -- physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. By learning about reflexology, you can learn to take care of yourself, your friends and family, and paying clients in a practice of your own, as part of a Complementary/Alternative Medicine (CAM) group, or for a spa.

Our program includes professional, fully observed Practice Clinics. Each clinic comes at the end of the foundations work, and incorporates everything that you have learned in order to work with a client. On the day of the Clinic, you will receive a new 'client', you will perform a full assessment, you will prepare a routine for that client, and you will complete the consultation (which includes sharing with your client your findings, lifestyle suggestions, etc.). After the Client leaves, the class will get together with the instructor and review the sessions. By the end of the clinic day, you should be all ready to see clients on your own. Fifty case study meetings will build up your confidence and experience in working with clients when you are officially certified and can charge them.

Successful completion of this course will give you an advanced working knowledge of the safe use of reflexology as a professional practice or as an add-on in a related discipline such as nursing, massage therapy, and palliative care. After successful completion of our program, you will become eligible to apply for membership in the Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC) (or a similar organization in your province, state, or country) as a Professional Member and to take the RCRT Exam that RAC requires for entry into the professional practice of reflexology and to be eligible for the for the professional designation of RCRT.

Most of the supplies that you will need can be found in your home or easily purchased in a department store or online. The texts that you are required to buy are those that will begin to build your professional reflexology library.

8 Learning Formats

The structure of this course is a combination of In-Class & On-Line/Self-Study Work. The Foundations Classes will be held as scheduled. If you can’t attend a particular class in person, we will arrange for you to attend on-line. We are mindful that each student has different learning needs, and we work together with you to meet them.

We are experts at hybrid learning. Our in-class sessions will be facilitated by a very live, very experienced instructor. In class, we share, ask questions, discuss and blend. We combine this with on-line self-study. Your instructor guides you from the beginning to the finish of our journey together. Get all of the benefits of working hands-on with a live instructor and of doing self-study at your own pace. Combine the best of the face-to-face and on-line high-tech worlds!

Self-Study
Between class meetings, your weekly self-study work will include readings, blending activities, projects, on-line activities and on-line quizzes. Some of the self-study activities will be graded & included as part of your final grade; all will be given feedback. All assignments will be available in your E-Classroom on-line.

Quizzes, Tests & Case Studies

On-line Practice Quizzes
The on-line Practice Quizzes are designed for you to be able to review your learnings as you go along and to help you prepare for your exams. You can see your results immediately and take the quiz as many times as you’d like; they’re great learning tools. There are no course grades associated with the quizzes; they are there for extra practice. In addition, your instructor will give you practical tips for studying and preparing throughout the semester.

Final Foundations Exam
During the last class of the session, you will be requested to sign up for and complete the Written Final Foundations Exam. This exam will cover all of the Foundations work that we have done in class or for self-study.

This exam will be scored out of 100%. Minimum passing grade is 80%. Upon unsuccessful completion, one make-up exam may be taken, for an additional fee. Upon successful completion, you may begin your case studies, confident that you now have the knowledge and skills to work with ‘clients’.

Case Studies
Upon successful completion of your written Final Foundations Exam, you will be required to complete 60 case studies. Your instructor will help prepare you to do the case studies.

Case Studies are the activity that prepares you to apply how all of the skills that you have learned will prepare you to work with clients of your own. Each case study will be in the format you will use with your own clients. By the time that you have completed them, you will be confident about working with others in a professional manner.
From time to time, your instructor may make available opportunities for you to get additional, supervised practice in a clinic setting.

Case Studies must be completed within 6 months of the Written Final Foundations Exam. They must be marked and completed before the Final Practical Exam can be taken. It will take at least 3 weeks for case studies to be reviewed and graded, so plan accordingly.

All case studies will be reviewed by your instructor, and will be graded on a pass/fail basis. Upon unsuccessful completion of any case, you will revise those case studies that need to be improved. Upon successful completion of all cases, you may schedule your Final Practical Exam.

Final Practical Exam
The Final Practical Exam is a case study visit in which your instructor is your ‘client’, and you will conduct a REFLEXOLOGY session on your instructor, going through every part of the protocol for a first visit. It must be completed within 1 month of completion of case studies. Successful completion of the Final Practical Exam is considered to be a score of 80%. After all of the other requirements have been met, you will be required to take a Final Practical Exam.

This will include setting up, welcoming the client, performing all assessments, making an Individualized Blend, giving client directions & recommendations, and recording the session.
This exam will be scored out of 100%; the minimum passing grade is 80%. Upon unsuccessful completion, one make-up exam may be taken, for an additional fee. Upon successful completion of this and all other course requirements, you will be awarded your certificate.

“I seek to connect as many hearts as there are stars in the sky.”
Dr. Sheryl Beller-Kenner

As a holistic health care practitioner, I am devoted to guiding organizations and people on journeys of wellness, self-fulfillment, and connection.

I'm a heart-centered Earth Mama. I love our planet and the people on it. I am extremely curious about everything. I am, literally, a perennial student and I read, do research, and write professional articles for fun. Drawing between the lines is difficult for me because I delight in expanding boundaries. Active in the waning years of the hippie movement, I strongly advocated for women's rights, freedom of religion, and rock 'n' roll. I have been a Techno-Queen since a computer was made small enough to put onto my desk, and I have used it to bring technology into teaching & learning to instructors and schools all across the world.

Inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson, who said, “A weed is a plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered”, I have spent much time over the past 25 years making healing preparations from the gifts of the plants. And I have discovered, “If you listen, they will teach you.” While traversing all over North America to camp, hike, and study the plants, I came to realize that "Just as a tree is rooted to the earth, our bodies are anchored by our feet, and reflexology nurtures those roots to provides the balance we need to confidently step forward in life."

Learning is about mindful listening. I have received my naturopathic training from various places in order to develop a well-rounded approach to complementary health care. I received my certification as a Chartered Herbalist (designation of CH) from Dominion Herbal College in British Columbia, Canada, as an aromatherapist who does aromatherapy massage (designation of CAHP®) from Ontario, Canada, as a foot reflexologist (designation of RCRT) and a Level II Reiki practitioner, from here in Montreal, Canada. My decade of work in Spiritual PhytoEssencing with Dr. Bruce Berkowsky (earned designation as a registered Spiritual PhytoEssencing practitioner (R.SPE.P.) and Group Training Leader) and Kabballah, has taught me how to take my sessions with clients to a much higher, much more spiritual level.

Being a wellness practitioner is about being mindful of your own wellness daily. I have earned a certificate from the Unified Mindfulness organization that gives me a tool that I use daily for self-regulation and calm. My training as a Certified HeartMath® Provider has given me the tools to help myself, my clients, and my students relieve the stress that causes emotional, physical, mental and spiritual imbalances. With these tools, I can be a role model for using various ways to demonstrate how stress reduction can be accomplished in so very many ways.

Enjoying staying connected to other professionals in healthcare, I am currently a member in good standing of the following professional organizations: Association Canadienne des Thérapeutes en Médecines Douces/Canadian Association of Therapists in Complementary Medicine (formerly Association Canadienne des Massothérapeutes et Autres Thérapeutes en Médecines Alternatives/Canadian Association of Massage Therapists and Other Therapists in Alternative Medicine) (ACTMD/CATCM); National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA); Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists(CFA); Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC) - National and Montreal Chapter; and International Association of Aromatherapists (AIA). In addition, because I’m dedicated to helping raise the standards of aromatherapy world-wide, I am a long-term member of the educational committee for the AIA and have been, in the past, for the CFA.

Continued focus on various aspects of professional growth is important to me. Trained in the Xchange Approach during the pandemic, I took a deep dive into bringing wellness into organizations and businesses during stressful transformations. For businesses, stress reduces productivity, increases absenteeism & employee turnover, and causes the loss of its previously-established values. These challenges have an immediate effect on the bottom line of any organization. My Xchange training brought me up-to-date on the use of new on-line technologies, the latest research on becoming a valued 'guide on the side', and how highly interactive activity can bring teams together to reduce confusion while opening up authentic lines of communication. I can work with individual CEOs, Board of Directors, Human Resources departments, and very large groups (workshops, conferences, weekend retreats) as a consultant or facilitator. This model is 100% business and 100% fun!

Teaching is also about mindful noticing (also called mindful listening). People want to be seen, heard, and understood. Each person I interact with gets my full attention so I can authentically connect with the person in front of me. For over 35 years, I have been teaching people of all ages all over North America. I currently offer professional certification programs in reflexology, herbology and reflexology right here in Montreal. Introductory courses I also love to teach include Unified Mindfulness Meditation and HeartMath®. As they are requested throughout the year, I introduce workshops on various topics such as perfume blending, stress reduction, incorporating essential oils into your daily life…and the list goes on.

Working with clients is also about heart-based connecting. In addition to being the full-time director of BelArôme Holistic Health Centre and the Montreal HeartMath Stress Reduction Clinic, I run a thriving private practice. I support all of my clients in getting in touch with their hearts and the ‘small spark within’ and showing them how this can lead them to a well-balanced, calm, healthy lifestyle.

"If we open our minds and our hearts,
we will discover that we have everything we need right here in front of us."

14 Deepening Your Professionalism

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS: All students are urged to join a professional Reflexology organization and obtain practitioner insurance - even as a student. Each professional reflexology organization in North America has different requirements for professional membership that may or may not include certain number of study hours, certain number of case studies, and/or an entrance exam. As of 2024, the BelArôme course curriculum at least meets all of the advanced requirements of each North American professional Reflexology organization. If the organization that you choose to join after you receive your certificate requires you to take its own exam, you will have to arrange it and pay that organization; it is not included in the exams for this course, but you can request that we act as a proctor if needed.

It is highly recommended that you become a student member of the Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC); this will give you the opportunity to meet other reflexologists, participate in professional activities, and buy insurance coverage for when you work on your case studies. If you want to receive the RCRT designation, you need to apply to the Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC). RAC will confer the RCRT designation if you take and pass its RCRT exam. There are numerous other professional organizations that you will be eligible to join too; each one offers many different benefits. Further information will be given in class.
