Dr. Sheryl Beller-Kenner, Naturopath & Certified Aromatherapy Teacher

Most people understand that traumatic events can be very stressful, but many still do not recognize that even the small daily stresses of life have a powerful effect on the body and on mental and physical well-being. Prolonged stress also overworks the adrenal glands, initially making you feel constantly on edge and, ultimately, making you feel tired, sluggish, listless, and emotionally out of control. There is already much research demonstrating the power, safety and effectiveness of natural compounds for relieving stress and anxiety.

Fortunately, aromatherapy offers some of the most pleasant, natural ways to ease stress and anxiety. Aromatherapy works primarily through the nose but can also act through the lung and the skin. When inhaled, volatile aroma compounds from plants are capable of exerting immediate, direct-to-the-brain actions. Correctly used, aromatherapy inhalations are much safer than oral ingestion or topical application of herbal or drug substances because the active essential oil compounds are so small.

Want to learn about the Top 10 Best Essential Oils For Stress & Anxiety?Want learn different ways to combine essential oils in order to make safe, fast-acting stress reducers? If so, join us, and make your own inhaler to take home.

A Death Café is a group-directed discussion of death and how your thoughts or experiences with death impact how you live your life. It is a discussion group, not a grief support or counseling group. It is a safe, comfortable place to talk about death and dying.

The discussion has no agenda, objectives or themes. Sometimes the conversation circles around our fears of our own death, and, at other times, it is about grief over losses other than death.  While no two Death Café events have ever been the same, we can guarantee that the conversation will: always be interesting, never be morbid, and often filled with lots of laughter.

Death and grief are parts of our lives whether we acknowledge them or not. Join us to shed some light on that part of your life.  If you know people who would find the conversation helpful, please bring them along.

REFLEXOLOGY: INTRODUCTION TO FOOT REFLEXOLOGY – Hands-On Course

15 hours = 5 x 3-hour classes

Fee: $300 - Fee includes all class materials

Dr. Sheryl Beller-Kenner, Naturopath & Certified Reflexology Teacher

Our feet have the important job of grounding us and leading us forward in life, but they are usually terribly neglected. By learning about foot reflexology, we can take care of our feet and the rest of our body at the same time.

Reflexology is a natural healing technique based on the principle that there are points (reflexes) in the hands and feet that correspond to all parts, glands, and organs of the body; by palpating these points, we can assist the body in balancing itself, immediately reducing stress and increasing circulation.

Join us to learn how to use the basics of foot reflexology to bring relaxation and improved health to yourself and your loved ones. This is a hands-on-foot class; wear comfortable clothing, and bring a pillow (for your feet) and a towel to the first class.

This course does not grant certification in reflexology; however, it conforms to the guidelines set by the Reflexology Association of Canada. Further information about certification will be given in class.

REFLEXOLOGY: WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY? – Presentation

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Fee: $30

Dr. Sheryl Beller-Kenner, Naturopath & Certified Reflexology Teacher

Our feet connect us to the earth. If we neglect them, they will let us know by causing pain, swelling, fungal infections, and other disorders. By taking care of our feet, we can look after the rest of our body at the same time.

Reflexology is a natural healing technique based on the principle that there are points (reflexes) in the hands and feet that correspond to all parts, glands, and organs of the body; by palpating these points, we can assist the body in balancing itself, immediately reducing stress and increasing circulation.

Join us to learn what to expect in a reflexology session and how to reflexology can benefit you.

JOYFUL HEARTS TOGETHER: LAUGHERCIZE LAUGHTER YOGA

7:00 PM-8:00 PM

May 1, & May 15, 2016 - 1st & 3rd Sun of Month

$10

Dr. Sheryl Beller-Kenner, Naturopath

People who do not have a sense of humor may be putting their health at risk. Being serious all the time or feeling negative wears on the body and mind. Laughter releases endorphins that help us get through negative feelings. Laughter produces endorphins, which are hormone that can fight stress hormones, relieve pain, release euphoric feelings, strengthen the immune system & circulation, help the healing process, improve breathing, bring on weight loss, give good sleep, build self-confidence, and improve relationships.

During the laughter exercises, the muscles (especially the facial ones), stomach, lungs, and heart get a workout; the body burns calories, and we take in much-needed oxygen, making us feel more energized.

Laughter can help move us from experiencing negative emotions to feeling joyful. And it can do that rather quickly.  Laughter is also very social, and it can help us easily make connections and improve the ones we have.

Join us for a session of sharing heart-felt love, laughter, and joy.

Registration required by 2 days before presentation.

ONE SIMPLE CHANGE YOUR WAY - GROUP

Dr. Sheryl Beller-Kenner, Naturopath & Coach

Are you looking to improve your life? Don't know where to start? You may feel as if you've tried everything that you can think of but haven't been able to make any progress. You might have gotten a lot of advice, but none of it worked for long.

Sometimes , when you're feeling out of balance, it seems as if there is so much to do and so little time to do it in. Old habits take a long time to make and a replacement to break; new habits that are learned slowly and practiced mindfully can last a lifetime.

You may be saying to yourself, "I can't do this, I'm not _____________ enough.  But you ARE enough, and you have everything you need to make the changes that you set your heart on.

What is the group based on?

Life has Four Core Aspects -- Nutrition, Stress Reduction, Exercise & Lifestyle Choices -- that must be in balance for you to get your life into balance and experience good health.  In our One Simple Change Group, we each look at all four aspects, one at a time, and we choose one item in one area and commit to doing something different for one week. Do you think that you can do that for one week? You do not have to do it alone; we do it together.

At each meeting we come together to learn something new on one of the Core Aspects, to share the challenges and successes of the past week, and to plan for the coming week. We also prepare smoothies, exchange recipes, and have fun.

Registration for this activity closes 2 days before the date of the activity.
